Indulgence Conditions Jubilee Prayer
“Jubilee” is the name given to a particular year; the name comes from the instrument used to mark its launch. We can find an early indication of it in the Bible: a Jubilee year was to be marked every 50 years, since this would be an “extra” year, one which would happen every seven weeks of seven years, i.e., every 49 years
Holy Father, Pope Francis has granted plenary indulgence during this Jubilee year. For obtaining Plenary indulgence, pilgrimage can be made to any pilgrim centre of the Catholic Church. Hence we have designated these Churches in our Eparchy as centres for pilgrimage during this Jubilee year. They are:
- St. Thomas Cathedral Church - Kalyan (West)
- Mother of Victory Shrine - Tikujiniwadi, Thane
- Little Flower Church - Nerul
- St. Alphonsa Church - Kalewadi, Pune
- St. Mary’s Church - Nashik
Indulgence Conditions
In order to obtain a plenary indulgence, the following conditions should be fulfilled.
- Reception of the Sacrament of Penance:
That means, having received the Sacrament of Confession you must be in the state of grace free from mortal sin at the time of the indulgenced act.
- Eucharistic Communion:
You must receive Eucharistic Communion on the day of indulgenced act.
- Prayer for the Pope’s intention:
It can be fulfilled by reciting one Our Father and one Hail Mary.
- Detachment from sin:
You must have a sincere desire to avoid sin and to be committed to living a virtuous life.
- Performance of the act:
You must perform the specific act or prayer designated for gaining indulgence.
- Intention:
You must have the intention of gaining a plenary indulgence.
Jubilee Prayer
Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
be glory and praise for ever.
